The Gramotthan Vidyapeeth amidst lust green surroundings was launched in the year 1992 as per Society Registration Act 1958 & Registration No. 40/Nagaur/1992-93 Dated 23.09.1992 Keeping in view the backwardness of girl’s education, and other challenges of modern era, Shri K. Ram took the initiative in establishing this residential non-profit institution for girls irrespective of caste, creed and ethnicity. It is, of course, worth mentioning that late Kisan leader Shri Nathuram Mirdha and the then Revenue Ministers, Shri Paras Ram Maderna & Shri Ganga Ram Choudhary played a pivotal role in the land allotment.

Gramotthan Vidyapeeth Sanstha Nagaur was established on 23rd September 1992 for the purpose of all round development of women irrespective of their religion, caste & creed. The aim of the Vidyapeeth is to free the girls from superstition, out-dated & time worn customs, social evils & economic dependence & make them able, foresighted , successful house-wives so that besides managing their household work efficiently, they may also perform their social, cultural & official duties gracefully & thus be able to synthesize healthy traditions with modern thought & become self dependent ideal indian women. It is no exaggeration to say that the excellent & rich heritage of the Gramotthan Vidyapeeth is reflected in the happy faces of the refined & culturally sound girls studying here with faith & trust that the parents have reposed in the institution. The Vidyapeeth campus is a meeting ground of the girls of different faiths, religions & ideologies & thus reflects the secular nature of the institution. The Vidyapeeth is spread over 35 bighas of land wherein are situated G.V.P. Sr. Sec. School, G.V.P. Primary School, Gogi Bai Girls Hostel, Working Women Hostel & Gramotthan Vidyapeeth Mahila Teachers Training College, Nagaur are situated.

From LKG to VIII standard co-education has been introduced with effect from academic session 2011-12 and presently, it is studying co-education all classes also.

The Campus, which is just opposite the District Stadium, is situated on the National Highway 58 in 35 Bighas land surrounding with pacca walls. It has an excellent setting for academic and co-curricular activities. The double storied school biliding’s architecture looks grand and charming.

Lawns, Plants and trees provide a wholesome educational atmosphere to students. They enjoy watching the germination of a seed, of the unfolding of a bud into full bloom. They develop love for nature and learn the importance of preservation of nature.

The School was initially established with a view to impart education through English medium. As such students are taught through English medium from Prep to XII standard. But of later it was realized that the girls passing their Upper Primary Examination from schools set up in remote rural areas through Hindi medium could not join this school because of the problem of the medium. As such from July 2002 onwards students have the choice to opt for Hindi medium also from class IX to XII.

Keeping in mind the differing perspectives of today’s world & an overall development of the students, the school introduces various guilds based on the essentials of the personality development & individual excellence. The concept of guilds has emerged as a result of introspection by the school administration to provide opportunities to the students for bringing forth, fostering & enhancing their variegated abilities in order to realize the unexplored area, encourage self expression leading to a sense of achievement & satisfaction. The aim is not to create a self-engrossed individual but to develop a spirit of team work & respect for the abilities of fellow students. We have made a separate arrangement for the students below 5th standard. For reading & learning it is very necessary to create interest of the students in it. All efforts have been made to provide the children with all the facilities. Educationists have observed that a child best learns by playing. So different play things have been provided to them which not only help them in learning but also create a habit of team work & co-operation in them. This also helps in developing their reasoning power as well as mental ability. Keeping in mind the child psychology we have employed a totally different staff which is fully trained in teaching the kids. They are competent, dedicated & well-versed in teaching methods.
